In focus: The United Nations Resident Coordinator office

The United Nations presence in Cambodia is convened under the UN Resident Coordinator System. Resident Coordinators help to improve the effectiveness of UN operations at the country level by drawing upon the support, expertise and guidance of the entire UN Country Team to deliver more coordinated programs and better development results for Cambodia.
 

UN Resident Coordinator Douglas Broderick (in the picture) is the UN Secretary-General's designated representative in Cambodia and is the highest ranked UN Official in the country. Mr. Broderick has 26 years international development experience working with the World Food Program in Bangladesh, China, North Korea, Armenia, Yugoslavia, Eritrea, Rwanda and Djibouti. He has also worked for Catholic Relief Services in Iraq, the United States, Thailand, Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza and Egypt.

 

Since commencing his term in April 2008, Mr. Broderick has coordinated the joint response to the rising food price crisis in Cambodia and represented development partners on the topics of social safety nets and the National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP), among many other activities.
