The team: Gina Vorderstrasse

Gina Vorderstrasse

Gina Vorderstrasse received her B.A. in International and Comparative Policy Studies from Reed College in 2010 and is currently a second-year M.A. candidate in Conflict Resolution at Georgetown University. Concentrating in International Intervention in the Great Lakes Region, she holds a certificate in refugee and humanitarian crises and focuses on development programming. Gina is currently a research assistant at the United States Institute of Peace where she has contributed to initiatives in South Sudan, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In 2011, Gina spent four months coordinating human rights workshops and advocacy projects in Rwanda. To meld these experiences, Gina is writing her Master’s thesis on national identity and development after genocide in Rwanda. Her next international project will be in Egypt, where she will analyze the impact of the Arab Spring on Egyptian diplomacy in central Africa. Away from work and academics, Gina is a crisis intervention volunteer for RAINN and is an avid baseball fan.
